Best Ways to Celebrate International Women's Day

Today is International Women's Day, a day to celebrate the achievement of women across the globe.

The theme of this year is #BeBoldForChange.

In the spirit of this year's theme, I choose to celebrate all women who have stood up and fought against all odds.
Especially I celebrate single mothers who have raised children alone as well as career women who have to strike a balance between work and family.

What is the Origin of International Women's Day

This is a day that has been celebrated globally since the early 1990s.  IWD's exact origin can not be fully explained. However, the origin can be traced to 1908, when 15,000 women marched through New York City demanding voting rights, better pay, and shorter working hours.

In 1913, it was decided to transfer IWD to March 8, and it has been celebrated on that day ever since. The day was only recognized by the United Nations in 1975, but ever since it has created a theme each year for the celebration.

How Can You Celebrate IWD

1. Doing Something You Love
This is your day as a woman to celebrate your milestone in life. Take time to enjoy something that cheers you up as a way of rewarding yourself.
You can set time aside for dancing, Yoga, singing, swimming, or meditation whatever makes you tick.

2. Spoil Yourself
One thing that women need most is some good treatment which they may not get regularly.  If you can account for a particular achievement then use this day to spoil yourself. Go out and have some fun, do some shopping and do not forget that massage.
This is the only day that you are allowed to do something because you are a woman so do just that.

3. Get In touch with the Inner You
Use this time to reflect on your life; the places you have gotten it right and the areas you need to improve on. Realign your goals in life and put your whole being in order from the spiritual, emotional, physical, and psychological. Be a complete woman for yourself.

4.   Smarten Up
Nothing makes a woman feel so good and confident more than smartening up. Go to the saloon, fix your hair and do your nails.

Feel free to get a makeover for your hair and dressing. Do anything that will boost your confidence and self-appreciation.

5. Spend Quality Time With Your Family
Women are natural caregivers and family plays a major role in who you become. To most women, family comes first before everything else. If you value your family, then this is the day to spend quality time with them and strengthen your bond.

Hope you got to enjoy your day as a woman!!! One last thing, celebrating IWD is not only about yourself.
