I feel so excited when I think of the Love and Lust Forum, June Edition. It all started as an idea but, my team and I all had the opinion that we either make it or make it. We take what we do to be a ministry and we put God at the center of it all.
Why Love and Lust?
These are two concepts that define romantic relationships. Without a proper understanding,
you might find yourself in a hole that you dug yourself. All we want is to fully expound the two and provide clear distinctions before we could go into any other topic.
What is Love and Lust?
Love can be explained as a deep affection towards someone that comes with a sense of responsibility and selflessness. Where there is love, all you want is the best for the other. The best example I can give is, how God gave His only son for the sake of humanity. This could sound a bit extreme for a human but consider, the love that Jacob had, that he labored for 7 years only to be given the wrong wife. He then labored for 7 more years to get the woman he loved. How many men would be that patient?

Here are the characteristics of love you should use to asses your relationship:
1 Corinthians 13:4. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8. Love never fails............ (NIV)
Lust on the other hand is a strong and uncontrollable desire that pulls you to something; It could be sex, money, food, drugs, you name it. Unlike common school of thoughts, lust goes beyond sexual desire. I will better explain lust using some excerpts from the Bible.
James 1:13. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14. But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. (KJV)
1 John 2:15. Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
This should give you a clue of how critical understanding love and lust is.
