Back pain is one very common occurrence in women. In other words,
every woman is likely to experience back pain at some point in their
life.
Experts have estimated that up to 80% of the population will
experience a back problem at some point in their lives.
There are
many causes of
back pain which tends to manifest itself differently.
Your back pain could be related to one of the following:- Arthritis
This
is a condition that tends to affect the joints and may be related to
either injury, genetics, or age. However, the condition mostly affects
older women.
- Strain of the muscle or ligament
This
is the most common cause of back pain among women of all ages. The
strain is often a results of improper heavy lifting or the carrying
of excess wait around the waist which tends to strain the lower back.
The condition can be caused by pregnancy, obesity, or even sporting
activities.
- Herniated disk
This is a protruding disk into the spinal canal injuring the spinal nerves which tend to cause pain to radiate into the legs.
- Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
This
is a bacterial infection of the female reproductive health. The
infection may cause back pain, abdominal pain, lower stomach pain,
unusual vaginal discharge, fever, and fatigue, pain during intercourse, or diarrhea /vomiting.
- Injury/ Disease of the backbone
This
kind of injury can be a result of fracture associated with either an
accident or osteoporosis a medical condition that causes bone thinning especially in women who are over 60 years of age.
Here are simple tips to prevent and avoid back pain:
Courtesy: that sister.com - Always bend from the knees when doing the heavy lifting to use the core muscles. Ensure that you also keep objects close to your body and do not twist them when lifting.
- Maintain a healthy diet and weight.
- Always maintain good posture when seating or standing.
- Get a mattress of medium firmness to prevent any curve of the spine.
