At different points during my cycle, I tend to get pimples which can be very annoying. This is a very familiar scenario for all women.

Despite our efforts to take care of our skin and work on being flawless, pimples and acne have a way of letting us down.

To be honest, whenever I get the breakout it feels like everyone is
staring at me.

On the bright side, several home remedies work very well and can save you on the cost of cosmetics.

Steaming
Steaming is a great way of treating your face. This treatment opens up your pores and cleans your skin at a dipper level. Steaming can be used as a single remedy or combined with others.

For this process, all you need is to boil water, pour it into a bowl, and allow it to cool slightly then place your face above the bowl and cover yourself with a towel for approximately 10 minutes. This can be done daily.

Aloe Vera Gel
This is one of the most effective products when it comes to dealing with acne and other skin condition. You could extract the gel straight from an aloe plant or buy natural aloe Vera creams.

The gel contains anti-inflammatory agents as well as antibacterial properties. Therefore it will be effective in reducing swelling and redness. To use it clean your face first then apply it to the affected areas.

Lemon Juice
Lemon contains high levels of citric acid which could do wonders for your skin. Since lemon is rich in Vitamin C this makes it is good for all types of skin. When you rub a slice of lemon on the face it tends to clean out dirt on the skin pores and also harden the sebum.

You can use the lemon daily or thrice a week depending on your skin. Just make sure you check on dryness. Always apply the affected area and leave it for a while before rinsing with plain water.

Toothpaste
Regular toothpaste can also be used as a remedy for acne. The paste will help reduce the swelling and also cause the pimples to dry out. Simply apply toothpaste to the affected area and leave it for 30 minutes then rinse it. In other instances, you could leave it overnight and rinse it off in the morning. Repeat the process for at least 3 days and you will notice the difference.

Baking Soda/ Sodium Bicarbonate

This is another product that has numerous uses at home including clearing acne and pimples. Baking soda can make your skin get back to its old beauty and softness. The substance works as a mild antiseptic and tends to fight bacteria and fungi. In addition, it dries excessive oils which are often the cause of pimples.

To use baking soda, simply make a paste with plain water and apply it on your face either as a mask or a scrub then rinse with warm water after a while, dry your face and apply some moisturizer.
