Sustainable Development goal number three aims to ensure; healthy lives and promote the well-being of all at all ages. SDG-3 also acknowledges the need for more efforts in addressing the different emerging health issues such is the case; mental health issues that are fast becoming a scourge.

Closer home, Kenya has been ranked sixth with the highest number of depression cases among African countries by a World Health Organization report released in 2017. In the report released last February, a total of 1.9 million depression cases were reported in Kenya by last year.

Close to 800,000 people die annually due to suicide, the second leading cause of death in 15 to 29 - year-olds according to the report that further indicates: the number of people with depression had increased by 18 percent from 2005. These are the glaring statistics to mention but a few; are calling for urgency in addressing mental health issues especially the least talked about “depression and suicide”.
